Cleaning and Inspection FEES
THE ONLY TAXIDERMIST IN TEXAS SPECIALIZING IN THE CLEANING, PROTECTING AND RESTORATION OF DAMAGED MOUNTS! Taxidermist Since 1978!
IMPORTANT - HEIGHT SAFETY
NOTE #1 Mounts need to be accessible by a normal ladder. Some trophies are placed so high that they are not safe to work on a ladder.
Shoulder mounts that measure from the floor to 8 feet tall even at the EYE level of the mount are safe to work on.
These will need to be taken down so that I can access them.
............................................................................................................................................................
NOTE: My prices are for inspecting, cleaning and repairing mounts etc. not moving furniture.
Please have all furniture moved the BEFORE I get there so I can go to work immediately.
If you cannot get the furniture moved before I get there please cancel your appointment at least 24 hours in advance.
I will have to move on the next appointment until access to the mounts are available.

I'll quote you any repairs of ridding your mount of bugs and eggs. You will be need to have a professional exterminator spray your home to make sure the mount and other mounts, clothing or wool carpeting is not infected and harboring Dermestid eggs (the cycle has to be stopped to protect your home and contents.

Fish and Birds
Must be quoted on an individual basis. Some mounts were not fleshed and degreased properly when mounted and on ducks or geese the fat was not removed thoroughly letting the mounts start to leak fat overtime as it degrades (In this case the ducks or geese may not be salvageable). Over time this fat leaks out onto the feathers or out of a fish mount. Some may not be able to be cleaned and in case of fish they may need to be repainted.
Fees will be quoted according to how much how much work it will take to restore the mount.
Ducks and geese may not be able to be saved if they were not degreased properly when they were mounted.
Rugs
By quote (if the rug part is in need of sewing those are sent out for repair and the quote will have to come from our commercial rug restorer + shipping both ways).
If there is a problem with the mounted head then I can do that.
If the tanning job was not done correctly and the tanning acid not thoroughly neutralized the rug may be cracked to the point that it is not going to be able to be saved.
Dioramas
Cleaning of dioramas and complicated bases are billed at $85 per hour. I will do that as quickly and thoroughly as I can to save you $. I'll give you an estimate before I start.
Horn & Skull Mounts
This FEE is for cleaning, dusting the skull, resealing the skull if needed, cleaning the horns or antlers and inspecting for bugs etc. only . In the case of horns such as sheep many times the taxidermist did not clean out the meaty area that connects the horn shell to the bony core and that is recipe for Dermestid infestation!
Any rebuilding of antlers / horns or repairing the material it was covered with will have to be quoted. If the mount is infested with bugs
it will have to take it to my shop to sprayed with an insecticide and placed in a commercial FREEZER to insure I kill ALL the bugs AND EGGS! It's a long process.
I'll quote you any repairs or ridding your mount of bugs and eggs. (Click here to go to the Dermestid Beetle info page)

You will be advised of these fees before removal.
Trophies that have been hung higher than a normal size ladder will reach will require a rental of a special lift to reach them (up to 20 feet high). The rental fee and travel expenses to pick it up and returned will be added to your bill.
Are Your Mounts NOT Safely Reachable by Ladder?
If I have to rent equipment to reach your mounts safely, the cost of the rental and mileage to pick it up will be added to your invoice.
This fee is not marked up except for mileage that is added.
There is No mileage distance charge if you are 30 miles or less from me.
Anywhere requiring extensive travel (30 + miles) there is a $550 minimum of work to be done + mileage (the first 30 miles is free).
You may combine travel fees with your hunting buddies to meet the minimum if you are within 30 miles of each other.
Mileage can be split amongst all customers per trip to save you money.

I will work with ladders when possible to save you money.
If your mounts are high and cannot be reached safely with a ladder, the job may require a special rental lift and you will be billed for that rental (it's not included in
price list). I will charge only what the rental place charges me plus there will be an $85 per charge will apply for pick up and delivery of rental equipment (you can
rent this if you would like to save the money. These lifts cost $10,000 to purchase so the rental fee is small in comparison. If I can share the cost with another customer on the same day I will (again, I don't mark these fees up).
If you have a business, I can work after hours so as not to disturb your flow of customers and for safety.
