About Bob McWilliams
THE ONLY TAXIDERMIST IN TEXAS SPECIALIZING IN THE CLEANING, PROTECTING AND RESTORATION OF DAMAGED MOUNTS! Taxidermist Since 1978!
Hello, my name is Bob McWilliams. I am the owner of Bob's Trophy Care. I was raised on a large West Texas ranch between
Juntcion and Sonora. I grew up hunting (for meat back in the 60's & 70's). I moved Midland, Texas where I opened
my first taxidermy shop in 1978. Later I moved to San Angelo, Texas and opened Frontier Taxidermy at Twin Buttes lake whre I became an award winning taxidermist (follow the link above - Your Taxidermist). I sold my shop to one of my taxidermists (Jimmy Fontenot) in the 90's. My wife and I now live in Helotes Texas (21 years) where we own our home there where we now live! The current economy has made it where we cannot live on our retirement income so I have started Bob's Trophy Care - a mobile taxidermy mount cleaning and restoration service (something I have dreamed of for years).
I am in my early 70's now but still healthy enough to do this but this will not be full service taxidermist business, instead it will focus on caring and repairing your precious taxidermy memories. This is a very much needed service. One cannot get a mount done, hang it on a wall and "not" care for it and expect it to stay pretty and not become dirty, possibly infected with bugs (dermestids) or just start cracking and fading because of the lack of care!
For much of my adult life taxidermy has been my living. I know all the ins and outs of the how they are mounted and what can go wrong, especially over time. Mounts sometimes are accidently dropped or just start falling apart from the lack of care. Even if your mount is infested with dermistids in many cases I can STOP the infestation, teach you how to make sure it does not come back and if your mount is not too far gone I can clean and repair it and STOP a small problem from becoming a huge problem which means it will have to be remounted with a fresh cape. At todays taxidermy prices it will cost around $1000.00+++ to pay a taxidmerist to buy a new cape, take the old cape off, clean up the form (or order a new one) and remount it! In most cases I can save your mount and make it last many more years that just dusting it every now and then.
